Termite Inspection Process

When we inspect the premises, we are looking for signs that termites may be active.

These include:

  • Timber structures that sound hollow when tapped.
  • Discoloured drywall, especially if it has small holes in it.
  • Floor damage due to moisture, which can be caused by termite activity.
  • Damaged timber.
  • Evidence of detritus (such as discarded wings or termite pellets).
  • Mud tunnels on your foundations.
  • Swarms of termites.

Once we've checked your entire property, inside and outside, we'll compile our findings into a detailed report.

This will contain observations of any activity we've seen, along with photographic evidence.

As well as detailing what we've found, we'll also suggest appropriate remedial activities to remove any termites and/or put in place preventative measures to prevent future infestations.

Tips & Tricks To Prevent Termites

You might think that termites can't be prevented, but there are things you can do to deter these unwanted visitors. These include:

  • Leaving your roof void accessible for inspections, if possible
  • Ensuring good ventilation, drainage and access for your sub-floor, if your property has one
  • Removing any pavers or garden beds that might be covering your weep holes
  • Keeping a 50mm inspection zone from the top of your concrete slab to its external edge
  • Mending any leaks in your hoses, drains or pipes, and ensure any runoff from air conditioners or hot water systems is sent away from your property
  • Ensuring no firewood or building materials are leaning against your property or are contained beneath the sub-floor
  • Clearing any dead trees, old wood, fallen branches and stumps
  • Making sure you use treated timber for retaining walls and garden beds

Top all these strategies off with a quality inspection from the professionals at Border Pest Control. All our inspections are performed by friendly, qualified professionals who take every step possible to eradicate termites from your property. To book your inspection with us, give us a call today.

Your Trusted Partner for a Termite Inspection in Albury

At Border Pest Control, we understand that peace of mind starts with a safe and secure home. Living and working in a region like Albury, where weather conditions and soil types are ideal for termites, has made us especially vigilant when it comes to pest control. That’s why termite inspections are not just part of what we do—they’re at the core of our services. Every property, whether it's a family home in Thurgoona, a commercial building in central Albury or a rural homestead on the outskirts of town, deserves thorough protection from the devastating effects of termites. With years of experience and a genuine commitment to the local community, we offer professional termite inspections that combine advanced technology, practical know-how and a down-to-earth approach.

Why Termite Inspections Are Crucial in Albury

Termites are not just an occasional nuisance—they're a persistent and costly threat in this region. Due to Albury’s warm climate and natural environment, these silent destroyers thrive, often going undetected until they’ve already caused significant structural damage. That’s why termite inspections in Albury need to be scheduled regularly, not just when you suspect a problem. We often remind our clients that early detection is the key to saving thousands of dollars in repairs and preserving the value of their property. As locals ourselves, we’ve seen the damage that untreated infestations can cause, and we make it our mission to stop that from happening to you. Our inspections are thorough, honest and designed to give you a clear picture of your home’s condition before problems escalate.

A Local Service with Local Knowledge

What sets us apart at Border Pest Control is not just our qualifications, but our deep understanding of the Albury region. Our familiarity with the local architecture, common building materials and termite-prone zones means we approach every inspection with a level of insight that’s hard to match. We know which suburbs are most affected and which construction types are most vulnerable, and we tailor our process accordingly. Whether your property is a brick veneer home in East Albury or a timber-framed house in Lavington, we apply our extensive knowledge to identify risks that a less experienced inspector might miss. We’re proud to be the go-to specialists for a termite inspection in Albury, trusted by homeowners, real estate agents and builders who rely on our local expertise and reliable service.

Working With Homeowners, Builders and Real Estate Agents

Our reputation for dependable termite inspections in the Albury area has grown over the years thanks to the strong relationships we’ve built with all kinds of clients. Whether you're a homeowner wanting peace of mind, a builder needing a pre-construction check or a real estate agent preparing a property for sale, we deliver the same high level of service and attention to detail. We understand the different goals of each group—homeowners want long-term safety, buyers need assurance before signing contracts and builders must meet strict compliance standards. That’s why our inspections are tailored to the specific context of the job. Our experience allows us to work efficiently, respect your timelines and provide honest, actionable feedback so you can move forward with confidence.

Pre-Purchase a Termite Inspection in Albury

Buying a property is one of the biggest investments you’ll ever make, and it should never be done without a proper termite inspection in Albury. At Border Pest Control, we specialise in pre-purchase termite inspections that reveal any hidden issues before contracts are exchanged. It’s easy to fall in love with a property’s appearance, but termites don’t care how pretty a place looks—they care about timber content and moisture. We’ve seen countless cases where buyers were about to go through with a sale, only to find out that the property had existing termite damage that wasn’t disclosed. By booking a professional inspection with us, you’re arming yourself with the knowledge you need to negotiate, walk away or make an informed purchase. It's a small cost for a big safeguard, and one that has saved many Albury residents from financial heartache.

Termite Prevention and Ongoing Monitoring

An inspection is just the beginning. Once we’ve assessed your property, we often recommend prevention strategies and monitoring systems tailored to your specific environment. Effective termite inspections in Albury aren’t just about what’s happening now—they’re about staying ahead of future threats. Depending on your location, we might recommend installing baiting stations, applying chemical barriers or carrying out moisture control measures. We’re not here to upsell unnecessary treatments—we offer honest advice based on what your property actually needs. Many of our clients choose ongoing monitoring with scheduled check-ups, and we’re happy to offer that peace of mind. Termite control is not a one-time fix; it’s an ongoing process, and we’re committed to walking that journey with you.

Termite Inspection FAQ

  • The property has concrete foundations - can termites still get in?

    Unfortunately yes.

Termites can't gnaw through concrete, but can easily slip through the tiniest crack in a concrete slab - if you've got a gap the thickness of a credit card or more anywhere on your foundations or concrete floor surface, a termite can enter.

  • How often should properties be inspected for termites?

We recommend that a property is always inspected before purchase or lease so that you don't move in only to discover you've got a termite problem.

In addition, even if you've got preventative measures in place, we recommend an annual inspection just to check that no termites have managed to gain entry.

  • Can you inspect for other pests as well as termites?

Yes! We are happy to combine our termite inspection with an inspection for evidence of rodents, 'roaches, beetles or any other pests that you're concerned about.

  • What's The Difference Between A Termite Check And A Termite Inspection?

Some pest management providers advertise termite checks, which are marketed at lower prices than termite inspections and are sometimes even free of charge. This might sound great, but termite checks are all marketing ploys. They're generally basic looks around a property to detect obvious activity, so they naturally don't include entering roof voids or subflooring and aren't followed up with inspection reports.

In contrast, a termite inspection performed according to Australian Standards will take around an hour and a half to complete and comes with a complete assessment of the building's interior, exterior, and roof voids and subfloors (as far as these are accessible). Inspections are also followed up by comprehensive reports.

  • Should I Clear My Furniture Before You Arrive For The Inspection?

No. As most properties we inspect are furnished, insulated, carpeted, and filled with stored items, it wouldn't be practical to expect you to empty your property every year for an inspection. Our inspections are visual assessments performed by professional technicians, who come with the training, expertise and experience needed to detect signs of termite activity or any conditions that might encourage the presence of termites.
