About Megs Childrens Home Nepal
Our goal is to enhance the lives of children who do not have family to cater for their basic needs. The objectives of Megs Children Trust are to establish and assist with the operation of Megs Children and to provide practical and financial support for the children resident in the orphanage with specific emphasis to the needs of their education, health, wellbeing and accommodation within the context of their cultural sensitivities and eventual self reliance. The committee of MCT is made up of a group of concerned citizens from the Albury Wodonga area. The committee organises a number of fundraisers each year to support the orphanage. We are currently providing direct support to a small orphanage at Balkot, a suburb on the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal. The orphanage or children's home currently has 20 children ranging in age from 5 to 18 years of age. We also support and pay a wage to the two house mothers and the manager who is also the legal guardian of the children, as required by Nepalese law. In Nepal, Megs Children is a registered NGO (Non Government Organisation). Most of the children in our home have been abandoned, some are true orphans, and some have been referred to us by Child Protection Agencies.
