Jumper ants nest outdoors only. Nesting in the soil, are large bare soil nests which are usually covered with small gravel and rocks or leaf matter. Sometimes they will nest inconspicuously in and around rocks. They are extremely aggressive and will jump over and sting anything that disturbs the nest. They hunt alone for insects alive or dead and are skilled in catching prey.
They are capable of inflicting a very painful sting which can cause ulcerations and redness. In some cases, severe allergic reactions can potentially cause anaphylaxis
